Applications instructions specific to Mathematical Sciences
When applying to any of these positions, please follow the general instructions by the University (how to apply).Note that for applications in Mathematical Sciences, incl. Theoretical Physics, we do not expect a detailed research proposal. Instead, we would ask you to write a research statement where you summarise your previous research activities (e.g. final year project or any research placements you did). Please also talk about your research interests and why you want to pursue a PhD.
Additionally to specific projects, we usually also have positions that are not linked to any supervisor (such as the STFC and EPSRC funded positions). If you want to apply to any of these, we will attempt to match your interest to available supervisors. However, we would encourage you to already indicate one or two academics you would be interested in working with. If you have questions or need assistance with this, please contact Yannick Ulrich for the STFC funded positions.
Studentships: self-funded and funded PhD projects
High-throughput First-principle Simulations of Charge Transport in Organic Semiconductors
Precision flavour physics observables from Lattice QCD
Precise predictions for lepton scattering experiments
Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU)
(XJTLU) is a pioneering international university based in the World Heritage city of Suzhou on China's east coast. XJTLU takes a unique approach to international education that combines, encourages and develops the teachings of its two founding institutions, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China and the University of Liverpool, UK.
XJTLU recruits students from all around the world, with undergraduate and postgraduate students from over 30 countries. All degree programmes are taught 100 percent in English by over 450 academic staff.
XJTLU offers a number of PhD scholarships in the mathematical sciences for outstanding graduate students to join the XJTLU research community. Most are open to all qualified candidates irrespective of nationality. Applicants should have at least 2:1 undergraduate BSc degree in an appropriate area of the mathematical sciences.
